A Look at the New Honda Vtec Car

Honda has been in India for over a decade and a half. During this period the car manufacturer has endeared itself to the Indian public and carved a special niche for itself in the automotive field. Honda manufactures a number of models but their City Zx model was the best and the people loved it.
However Honda has further refined the model and launched the V tec in place of the older city ZX. The car is built on the same platform as the earlier City. The old city is certainly a car to remember and one wonders how the new Vtec model will fare.People will want to know the dynamics of the car and how it compares with the older model.
The new Honda vtec is a feather in the cap of Honda. The car with 100 hp output (slightly lower than the earlier city) has certainly created a favorable impression. As far as looks is concerned the new Vtec model is not much different from the earlier model. The changes are cosmetic. The only addition is the rear fog lamp. There is a slight change in the front grill, otherwise body wise there is not much difference. The Vtec engine gives greater economy and power. It churns out 100Ps and is certainly not a slow runner on the highway. In addition it imparts economy to city driving.
The engine has the same capacity 1497 cc as the earlier model. But the power house has a SOHC (single overhead camshaft) configuration. Though this is not very conducive to engine efficiency the new Honda vtec churns out 100bhp at 5800rpm. It also has a maximum torque of 13.5kgm at 4800rpm. This results in the car outside being a little noisier.
The car is equipped with Airbag and EBD. Electronic Power Steering is standard to all models. It also has a Leather Gear Knob, Parking Brake handle and Steering Wheel as well as a new generation CD player. The VTEC has 15 inch alloy rims and a lower profile tire. The tyres give a good grip but wider tires would be needed on hill drives and curves.
The Vtec has an excellent transmission system and the gear ratios are very good. You can get a feel of the engine workmanship as the car can touch 100 km per hour just in the second gear. It can be exhilarating for a driver at the wheel. The chassis is solidly built and the car has all four disc brakes.
However the last word is that the Honda vtec has excellent dynamics and the steering makes the car easy to handle. The car costs a cool one hundred thousand rupees more than the earlier model. The deluxe version is even costlier. But then Honda has a name and one can certainly opt for buying it over the other cars in the market. You cannot be a loser when you buy a Honda vtec.
